The number of refugees is huge. After the riots in the fall of 2012 between Buddhists and Muslims, in which numerous people had to leave their homes and sought refuge in refugee camps, we (a doctor, midwife, nurse and coordinator) set out to provide humanitarian aid there. We were lucky enough to be able to provide assistance as a medical team in the Muslim and Buddhist refugee camps without any problems, through a local NGO.

In addition to medical assistance, we also distributed food, firewood and water. This mission left a lasting impression on all of us. It also led to our partnership with our current partner organization, with whom we have already successfully implemented several projects in Rakhine. And more will follow.
