Project Burma Hospital – Help for an entire region
Our dream came true. Planning, construction, material procurement, shell construction, interior work, reworking, starting over again, correcting, inspiring, motivating, organizing, laughing, crying, hoping...
After four years of hard construction work, our hospital is now completed and can start its work.
A 20-bed hospital for about 20 communities with almost 20,000 people in Myanmar, on the Bay of Bengal. With an operating room, delivery room, laboratory, instrument cleaning room, kitchen, storage, toilets and showers, a waiting area and two separate patient rooms for infectious patients in the extension. A small waste incinerator was also included. Much of the equipment came in a container from Germany, donated by German hospitals and medical practices. Engagement Global Deutschland covered the transport costs.
The government of Myanmar also financed a doctor's house and a nurses' house, so work could begin. The hospital was handed over to the government in an official ceremony with our promise to send German doctors, nurses and midwives at regular intervals to support the Burmese medical staff with courses and seminars in hygiene, childbirth and operations. For this purpose, a specially built house is available for German doctors, nurses and midwives in Magyizin.
The construction of this hospital should give people faster access to medical care.
