Covid-19 – Immediate assistance

The corona virus continues to spread worldwide. The virus has also arrived in Myanmar, one of the poorest countries in the world, and is affecting the already strained health care systems.

For poor families without financial reserves, it is almost impossible to comply with the lockdown and stay at home. Many live from hand to mouth as day laborers. Running water is not available in many areas, making increased hand washing a challenge. This is especially true in crisis areas such as Rakhine State, where living conditions make it extremely difficult for people to keep their distance. Increasingly in the refugee camps or with the many internally displaced people there.

Together with our local project partners, we organized protective clothing, medicines, water, soap and food for poor families in our village of Magyizin, in the mountain villages in Kayah State and in the conflict area of Rakhine among the IDPs and the Rohingyas.
